| - a: Wear layer
- Some times affected by a fogging type fault, surface looks
milky. This effect can also be caused by scuffing and abrasion.
- b: Photo Layer - This is a printed photograph, can
be prone to printing faults and color differences / variations.
- c: Core Material - Generally made from Chipboard,
MDF or HDF and variations of these now with moisture resistant
properties. Faults can include small lumps, twisting of planks,
banana effect causing bowed boards. Poor quality boards can
also give trouble with click joints.
- d: Joint - Many boards have now gone to a click
system from a glued tongue and groove system. Many people
ask if a click system is better ?, it is for fitting and rectification
of damaged floors, but some environments are better suited
to a glued tongue and groove system, but mainly commercial
areas.
- e: Joint Protection - Many good quality boards now
have lightly waxed joints to help the joints fit together
smoothly and to help against the creaking of the click systems.
A creaking / crackling floor can also be the result of a tight
/ restricted installation.
- f: Backing - The backing of a board is very important
as this helps stabilize the whole plank. You Must Condition
All Flooring Laminates Prior To Installation !! See Instructions
on packs.
